The Silver Maple is a large deciduous tree native to North America, valued for its rapid growth and distinctive foliage. Its deeply lobed leaves are light green on top and silver beneath, creating a shimmering effect in the wind. In autumn, the foliage may turn pale yellow, sometimes with orange tones. The bark is smooth and gray on young trees, becoming darker, fissured, and scaly with age. In spring, it produces small greenish flowers before the leaves emerge, followed by winged samaras (“helicopters”) that mature quickly.

Soil type: Prefers moist, well-drained soils but adapts to a wide range of soil types, including clay and compacted soils. It tolerates poor soils and some standing moisture.
