Thuja occidentalis ‘Nigra’

Black cedar is a popular variety of eastern arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis), valued for its dense, persistent foliage of very dark green, which retains its color well even in winter. It has a narrow, conical form, making it an excellent choice for hedges, privacy screens, or as a standalone specimen in smaller gardens.

Soil type: It prefers well-drained soils that are moist but not waterlogged. It tolerates a wide range of soils, including clay and sandy types, but thrives best in rich soil that is slightly acidic to neutral.
